Roji Mohammed Bobotunde is a leading contemporary Nigerian figurative painter whose impressionistic portraits have earned growing international recognition. Celebrated for his masterful rendering of warm tonal palettes and luminous brown skin tones, Bobotunde captures intimate moments of everyday life with emotional depth and technical precision.

His works explore themes of innocence, resilience, and quiet strength — often portrayed through children and solitary figures whose expressions convey instinctive love, justice, and vulnerability. These layered narratives resonate strongly with collectors seeking emotionally intelligent, culturally grounded contemporary African art.

Bobotunde trained at the Universal Studios of Art, Lagos, under masters including Abiodun Olaku, Ejoh Wallace, and Joshua Nmesirionye, before refining his figurative technique under renowned artist Ebenezer Akinola. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

His market trajectory continues to strengthen. In 2019, his painting Reflection was selected among the top 260 works in the prestigious British Portrait competition, and in 2024 he was named a finalist in the ABSA L’Atelier Art Competition in South Africa — one of the continent’s most respected art prizes. His works are now held in notable private and international collections, underscoring both aesthetic and investment appeal.

Working across oil, acrylic, charcoal, pastel, pen, and graphite, Bobotunde demonstrates versatility while maintaining a highly recognizable visual language. As Coordinator of Space29.7 Studios in Lagos, he remains deeply embedded in Nigeria’s vibrant contemporary art ecosystem.

With increasing institutional visibility, international competition recognition, and a consistent exhibition record that includes six solo shows, Roji Mohammed Bobotunde represents a compelling acquisition opportunity for collectors focused on established yet ascending contemporary African artists.
