Artist Biography: Elizabeth Chioma Ekpetorson
Elizabeth Chioma Ekpetorson is a Nigerian contemporary artist whose work explores the depth, dignity, and complexity of the human experience. Born in 1991 and raised in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, she earned a BA in Fine Arts and Design from the University of Port Harcourt and further developed her practice through industrial training and professional internship at the renowned Universal Studios of Art in Iganmu, Lagos.

Working primarily in charcoal and acrylic, Ekpetorson creates expressive figurative works that blend elements of Cubism and Impressionism. Her compositions are deeply introspective, using human form as a vehicle for examining identity, vulnerability, emotional truth, and contemporary social realities.
At the heart of her practice is a powerful commitment to self-acceptance and shared humanity. Through portraits and nude figures, she invites viewers to look beyond outward appearance and engage with the inner lives of her subjects. Her work often centers on women’s experiences, giving visual form to stories shaped by silence, shame, resilience, and transformation.
Ekpetorson’s paintings celebrate the richness of human existence while challenging superficial judgment and social prejudice. By emphasizing what connects us before what divides us, her art becomes a space for empathy, recognition, and deeper understanding.
Her work has been featured in group exhibitions in Nigeria and the United States, and she continues to build a compelling body of work that resonates with collectors drawn to contemporary African art rooted in both emotional depth and cultural relevance.
