In Four Horsemen, Lioda Conrad channels intensity and movement through a dramatic interplay of crimson and shadow. Cascading veils of red descend beneath a darkened atmospheric mass, evoking momentum, power, and an almost mythic presence. A striking linear accent cuts across the composition like a charged horizon, guiding the eye and amplifying the sense of narrative tension.
Rather than literal depiction, Conrad suggests energy in motion—forces converging, advancing, dissolving. The bleeding watercolor washes create depth and raw emotional immediacy, while the layered tonal contrasts lend the work both weight and sophistication. The result is a piece that feels elemental and symbolic, inviting interpretation while commanding visual impact.
Executed on archival Hahnemühle paper and sealed for longevity, Four Horsemen offers collectors a bold and evocative contemporary work—one that balances abstraction with dramatic storytelling, making it a powerful addition to a curated collection.
